Pinch, Punch, First of the Month

Jack and I decided to embark upon a little adventure to New Quay, a lovely, quaint seaside town on the west coast of Wales. It was rather cold and windy so our day trip was a bit shorter than we expected; however, the sun decided to show it’s face in small intervals throughout, shedding light on some beautiful views that the tiny town possesses.

After arriving, we immediately went on a quest to find a nice place to sit and eat lunch as we had arrived just in time for lunchtime! We came across a seafront hotel called The Hotel Penwig and after browsing the outside menu, decided it was for us. The interior of the hotel resembled it’s exterior – a nautical shabby chic theme to match the seaside town’s ageing beauty. Being Sunday lunchtime, I opted for the Welsh Minted Lamb (I felt pretty guilty about this afterwards when we were driving back home as I suddenly started to notice all of the sheep in the fields surrounding us… I’m sorry, sheep), whilst Jack stayed true to the seaside by choosing Fish and Chips (with mushy peas – which he was actually surprised with as he actually really enjoyed them, even though he always claims that he hates them! Haha.)

Full with food, we strolled around the town’s hilly streets and watched as our view of the sea expanded to something even more spectacular. The higher we got, the more and further we could see. I loved the houses here. Like many other Welsh towns, they were all painted in a variety of colours and each had it’s own little quirks. I especially liked this house number!

With tired legs, we headed back down towards the seafront and found a little path leading to the beach where we stayed for quite sometime, watching the waves come in and out, and admiring different kinds of rocks and formations.

One of Jack’s favourite pastimes is to tell me all about the geological processes that have gone on in the environment around us. Although the majority of the time, I can’t keep up with what he’s saying, I think I’m getting better at it now! I never like to stop and question what he’s talking about; I feel as though I may interrupt his flow. He always speaks so passionately about his subject that sometimes I just like to let him explain things to me to see the passion sparkling in his eyes.

Hope you have all had a lovely relaxing Sunday/weekend – comment and let me know what you’ve been getting up to this weekend to mark the end of the first month of 2015 and the beginning of the second!

  1. But you could have watched the sea from your wonderful balcony – inside in the warm! I have had a lovely Sunday lunch with Adam, Peter, Marie and the bump (and Bounce of course). Love your photos, especially the house number, so clever. Xxx
